Blog Hero

A dry and itchy scalp is annoying and it can be embarrassing. There are many reasons why your scalp might be itching, many of which we outlined in our last blog. But there are also many ways to help relieve your dry scalp, which we also went over in our previous blog.

In this blog, we are going to go over some home remedies to relieve an itchy and dry scalp. At The Hair Company, we know a thing or two about hair, and we want our clients to have access to this information as well! If you are sick and tired of your dry scalp, read on to learn different home remedies!

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is great for many things, and relieving a dry scalp is one of them! It has probiotics and anti-inflammatory properties that help kill yeast and viruses, which may be causing your itchy scalp. Apple cider vinegar can also help soothe irritation on your scalp. This magical little ingredient can also help reduce dandruff since it stops dandruff-causing bacteria and fungus to grow.

To use apple cider vinegar, mix half a cup of it with half a cup of water. Massage the mixture into your hair and leave it on for ten to 15 minutes. Rinse it out with cold water. Be sure to repeat this routine every few days until you start seeing a change.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is another great way to soothe your itchy and dry scalp. Lemon juice contains antiseptic properties, which make it a great remedy for your dry scalp. Massage fresh lemon juice into your scalp and leave it in for about five minutes. Before you do this, you may want to test it on a small part of your scalp to see if it stings too badly. If it does, dilute the juice with water before applying to the rest of your scalp.

These are two of the most popular home remedies for a dry and itchy scalp, but there are many more. Some may work better than others for your scalp, so you may want to test out a few. Some of the others include banana and avocado, baking soda, tea tree oil, coconut oil, and many more. Find one that works for you and schedule an appointment at The Hair Company to get a fresh new ‘do once your scalp is soothed!
